POLICE foiled an attempted theft of a container load of a leading French brand of cosmetics yesterday.

It is believed that the four suspects used their skills as heavy-vehicle drivers to transport their loot, comprising 150,000 items such as perfumes and lipstick, out of the Jurong Logistics Hub in the dead of night last Saturday.

They then allegedly pulled over somewhere along the way, transferred the stolen goods into another container and moved that across the island to a rented space in a Kaki Bukit industrial building. The container that originally held the cosmetic items, worth about $1 million, was found abandoned in Penjuru Close, in Jurong.
