StarHub chief: EPL loss was a surprise

WHEN indications came last week that StarHub had lost the bid for broadcast rights to the English Premier League (EPL), chief executive Terry Clontz had just landed in London.

His BlackBerry started spewing a string of e-mails and SMS messages.

'After several phone calls, I was able to confirm who had put in that extraordinary amount,' he told The Straits Times, in his first comments since the news of SingTel's coup broke.
