Noordin's top aide, brother die in shoot-out

By Salim Osman, Indonesia Correspondent

JAKARTA: Two Indonesian militants wanted by police for their alleged role in hotel bombings in Jakarta in July were believed to have been killed yesterday in a shoot-out in Tangerang near the southern part of the capital.

They were identified in media reports as Syaifudin Zuhri Djaelani and his brother, Mohamad Syahrir.

Described as the right-hand man of slain Malaysian terrorist Noordin Top, Syaifudin is suspected to have recruited the suicide bombers who attacked the Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott hotels on July 17.
