THE wait to see an acupuncturist at the Geylang Lorong 23 branch of the Singapore Buddhist Free Clinic on a Saturday can stretch to nearly two hours.
Housewife L. K. Lee, 65, sounded resigned as she said 'bo pian', a Hokkien phrase meaning 'no choice'. More people were coming to the clinic, she noted.
The branch she was at and the clinic's five others in Ang Mo Kio, Jurong East, Tanjong Pagar, Redhill and Tiong Bahru treated 10 per cent more patients between April last year and this March than in the previous corresponding period.
