Award-winning local singer-songwriter Tanya Chua has won the rights to her songs from her former music publisher after taking her case to the highest court in Singapore.

The Court of Appeal has ruled that the publisher, Music & Movements, which launched her music career more than 10 years ago, breached a clause in her contract.

The 34-year-old singer had sought a declaration that the rights to about 140 songs she composed under Music & Movements should revert to her now that her contract with it has ended.
