VICTIMS of family violence are now getting better protection as a result of new initiatives aimed at preventing 'high-risk' abusers from exacting revenge when they get out of jail.

The measures in place include identifying abusers who are likely to return to violence and alerting families before they are released from prison.

Those in the frontline of such work say the initiatives are crucial as some men continue to abuse their wives or family members even after they have been jailed for doing so.
