AT LEAST 13 public sports facilities will be closed to prepare and upgrade them for next year's Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

Most of the closures, which range from three months to nearly a year, will begin in May. Bishan Sports Hall has already shut its doors since last Thursday.

All the facilities are expected to be re-opened by Oct 16 latest, after the end of the YOG on Aug 26, said the Singapore Sports Council in a statement yesterday.
