The voice of the master of ceremonies echoing across the waters of Marina Bay on the final night of this year's River Hongbao extravaganza might cause some festivalgoers to rub their ears.

Not because of the loudness or sound quality - but because of the unexpected accent.

For the first time in the festival's 24-year history, expect to hear the typically crisp and clear tones of a native Briton echoing out on the amplifier.
