THE Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has warned employers of maids that it will take action against those who use them as agents for illegal hostels.

The ministry said it has already picked up a maid who was acting as an agent for illegal hostels catering to medical tourists and short-term visitors in Jalan Elok, near Orchard Road. On top of that, the maid was found to have no valid work permit.

An MOM spokesman said: 'Investigations against the worker's employer are currently under way. The MOM takes a very serious view of work permit infringements.'
