Taiwanese singer Julia Peng Jiahui, 46, has confirmed that she and husband Steven Wang have divorced after 12 years of marriage.
In a Weibo post on June 6, Peng wrote that the pair had signed divorce papers in March.
However, she stated that they have tried their best to bring up their three children together, explaining why they still live in the same house, but in separate rooms.
Taiwan media had speculated on their divorce in January, after noticing that Wang had been absent from her social media posts for the past year.
Peng, however, said that the reports in turn were the catalyst for them to re-examine their relationship.
She subsequently took a break in February to spend time with family and had several heart-to-heart talks with her husband. And in March, the papers were signed, said Peng.
In the handwritten letter posted online, Peng said the joint statement was written together with her husband. She captioned the post: "Thank you for your concern, no matter what, we'll continue to work hard for our kids".
Peng also brought up the intimate paparazzi shots which surfaced recently, showing Peng and a man kissing and hugging on the street.
She explained that the man in the photo had always been a good friend among her circle of friends whom she could confide in.
However, after her divorce, they felt "something had changed between them", "but neither of them made a move". Peng then admitted that the pair had too much to drink that night and they embraced before she left in a taxi.
Peng most recently appeared as a contestant on Chinese reality singing competition, Singer 2017.
