India woman freed after rape, only to be raped again

The New Paper | Monday, Dec 30, 2013

It is a Christmas Eve this 20-year-old woman will not want to remember for the rest of her life.

She was allegedly raped twice in the space of a few hours in Puducherry, a state in south India.

First, she was abducted by three men and raped by one of them, The Times of India reported.

Within minutes of her being let off, another group of seven men allegedly abducted her and six of them took turns to rape her.

The police rescued the woman following a tip-off from her friend and arrested 10 people.

The victim, working in a computer firm in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu, had accompanied her friend, known as Miss Rani, to Karaikal in Puducherry to meet the latter's boyfriend on Christmas Eve.

A 17-year-old boy known to Miss Rani joined them when they went sightseeing.

Miss Rani complained of uneasiness and her boyfriend took them to a friend's house in the town. The victim is then believed to have gone out to have a meal.
