Thai students undertake 'Holy Water Challenge'

The Nation/ANN | Tuesday, Sep 2, 2014

Nation University has held a modified Ice Bucket Challenge at its Bang Na campus in Bangkok, plus its campus in Lampang.

Dubbed the 'Holy Water Bucket Challenge' because holy water was used instead of icy water, the fun activity aimed to create an auspicious beginning for the new academic year for students and teachers.

Nation Multimedia Group chairman Suthichai Yoon said the event was held simultaneously on the two campuses with video-conferencing set up and money raised for charity like the Ice Bucket Challenge did.

The activity got students involved in a hybrid of a world trend to help the underprivileged, he said.

Nation U rector Asst Prof Pongin Rakariyatham said the challenge aimed to bolster confidence and unity among students as well as promote mutual learning and teamwork.
