89 arrested for drug offences in 4-day operation

SINGAPORE - The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has arrested 89 people and seized $47,000 worth of drugs in a four-day island-wide operation.

The suspected drug offenders were arrested within the period of April 21 to 25. Drugs seized include 400g of heroin, 15g of 'Ice', 92g of cannabis and 37 Erimin-5 tablets.

Together with the Singapore Police Force, CNB conducted raids in many areas, including Balestier, Bedok Reservoir, Boon Lay, Bukit Merah, Clementi, Ghim Moh, Hougang, Jalan Berseh, Jurong, Marsiling, Rochor, Tampines,Toa Payoh and Woodlands.

A house on Upper Serangoon Road was arrested. Officers arrested two male Singaporeans, aged 54 and 51 years, from the house which was suspected to have been used as a heroin store. Officers seized drugs worth an estimated $13,000 during this raid alone.

CNB said in a statement that it will maintain vigorous enforcement actions on the ground.
