Bodybuilder nabbed over illegal supplements

The Star/ANN | Saturday, Oct 18, 2014

MALAYSIA - An amateur bodybuilder is being investigated for selling illegally manufactured weight loss and body-building supplements.

Harian Metro reported that the supplements were found to contain chemicals that could cause nerve damage, heart failure and even death.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested at 11am on Thursday after a raid on his business premises in Puchong by the state pharmaceutical enforcement unit of the Health Ministry.

Unit chief Adnan Salimin said the authorities had received information that the man was selling supplements that could be illegal.

It was later discovered that they contained harmful chemicals such as yohimbine.

Adnan said the man and another suspect arrested in Klang would be charged with selling health products without the ministry's approval.
