A 16-year-old in Bangalore, southern India, has lodged a police report against his parents for allowing his younger sister to marry a man 10 years her senior, reported Tamil Nesan.

The boy, Riyaz, from New Gurappanapalya village, told police he was angry and dismayed that his parents had agreed to his 14-year-old sister's marriage.

Begging the authorities to act against his parents, he wanted the marriage annulled.

Acting swiftly, police accompanied the boy back to the house and barged into the bedroom but it was too late as the marriage had already been consummated.

The bridegroom, Syed Muzzamil, was arrested but girls' parents disappeared. The boy's sister, who was still wearing her crumpled wedding clothes, was taken into protective custody by welfare authorities.
