KUALA LUMPUR - A senior citizen tried to run off with a taekwondo instructor's phone but was stopped by bystanders when the 19-year-old chased after him.
The victim pleaded to the angry crowd not to beat up the man as he looked like he was in his 60s.
Norul Harith Cherum said he was printing taekwondo certificates at a shop in Wisma Central, Jalan Ampang. He was charging his Samsung Galaxy S4 at the counter when he noticed the elderly man outside the shop.
"He was looking through the window then left. Then he came back and left again. The third time he came in and spoke to the shop owner.
"He went over to the counter and started looking at the certificates," he said.
After the man left, Norul Harith noticed that his phone was missing and immediately went after the suspect.
"I chased him for about 100m and shouted, Tolong berhenti (Please stop)." He later found the phone in the man's pocket.
