At just eight months old, Prince George has already been hailed as the most influential baby of his generation.

The title came courtesy of British baby product retailer my1styears.com.

It compiled the list according to a baby's marketing potential, their future standing in adulthood and the net worth of their parents, among other factors.

So exactly how influential is George Alexander Louis?

At least enough to make parents the world over want to dress their tots like him.

The personalised baby blue jumper George sported in a family photo last month was enough to kick-start a baby style trend, with 1,200 similar-looking ones being sold on my1styears.com within days of the photo's release.

This has carried on well into his debut royal tour of New Zealand and Australia with his parents, Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The little prince's S$157 navy smocked dungarees with a sailboat design from British luxury children's brand Rachel Riley, worn on a play date in New Zealand last week, was quickly swept up on the brand's website.

There is now an eight-week waiting list for the tog.

The plush kangaroo backpack, which first showed up when the royals stopped over in Sydney, Australia, was also sold out.

And mind you, little George can barely talk or walk yet.

Like his mother, he has been starting fashion trends and is responsible for the surge in sales, known as the "George effect".
