Dr. Hedy Goh, director of the NP School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology, and Dr. Elaine Watson, RUSVM dean, at the signing ceremony at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) has secured a collaboration with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), a university in the West Indies.

The two schools signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop mutually beneficial collaborations in education and research, as well as to offer a route for Singaporean students who want to pursue a veterinary degree.

The partnership offers an international internship opportunity for students completing the Diploma in Veterinary Bioscience from NP's School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology. However, only a select group of NP students will be given the 15-week internship at the RUSVM campus in St Kitts.

During the internship, students are expected to finish a research project which can cover topics from food safety, fish diseases, sea-turtle conservation to the One Health Intiative which aims to forge global alliances among medical and veterinary professionals.

The internships will be offered next February and will fulfil a core requirement of the current students' training programme. The stint will also equip them with the necessary experience and exposure in the industry.

To facilitate the collaboration's aims, the MOU encourages faculties and students from both schools to continuously engage in international research for future development.
