Children play doctors and physicians at the Sen-sation station where they get a chance to don scrubs and wear stretoscopes and examine various body parts at KidsSTOP, Singapore's first-of-its-kind science centre for children.



What: Children can try out a 7m slide, excavate fake dinosaur bones from a sandpit and find out more about the human body at KidsSTOP (above). Singapore's first science centre for children caters for those eight years and younger, and boasts features that encourage exploration.

What: Horse-riding provider Gallop Stable has three outlets, including Horse City at Turf Club Road, which offers pony rides and group, private and junior riding lessons. It also has Shetland pony rides and donkey feeding sessions. Visitors are advised to book in advance by e-mail.

Admission: Hour-long trail rides cost $85 on weekdays and $95 on weekends for groups, and $95 on weekdays and $100 on weekends for private sessions

What: The Esplanade's 10-day Flipside festival, celebrating the lighter side of the arts, starts today and is suitable for anyone above the age of seven.

Families can attend ticketed shows by Canadian puppeteer Jeff Achtem and comedian Judee Tan, among others. Visitors can also enjoy free acts around the arts centre. Catch the Pants Down Circus in a comedic show at the Outdoor Theatre, or step up to lead a roving professional orchestra looking for a conductor.

What: Those who prefer the outdoors can head to Sentosa's Palawan Beach for Storytelling Comes Alive! (right), which offers interactive story-telling sessions and a craft corner. Check out the live-sized Playmobil display, playpit and cafe.
