More humanities courses in polys

The Straits Times | Friday, May 2, 2014

There should be a wider variety of courses in our polytechnics, especially those related to the humanities and languages.

Currently, our polytechnics do not offer courses that I am interested in.

At the same time, I find it too stressful to study in junior colleges, even though they offer a wider range of humanities courses than the polytechnics.

I hope polytechnics will start courses in archaeology, politics and history, to draw secondary school students who are interested in the humanities.

By doing so, such students can pursue their future career paths in the humanities without taking the junior college route.

Letter from Lee Song Yang, 15, Secondary 3 student
