Bride-to-be killed in accident days before wedding

The Star/ANN | Tuesday, Aug 26, 2014

MALAYSIA - A bride-to-be, set to tie the knot next Saturday, was killed in an accident along the North-South Expressway, reports Harian Metro.

Nurse Amirah Abd Rahim, 25, was on her way to work when she lost control of her Perodua Kancil at the 148th kilometre of the expressway near Pagoh at 7am on Sunday.

Amirah's car hit the divider, leaving her with serious head and body injuries.

She died at the scene.

Her father Abd Rahim Sobri, 48, said he arrived at the scene to see his daughter's body covered with a piece of cloth.

"A few minutes before that, I received a call from firefighters saying that Amirah was involved in an accident.

"I thought she was only injured but my daughter was killed," said the grief-strickened father.

He said Amirah, who worked at the Bukit Gambir Health Clinic, had already made most of the preparations for her much-awaited wedding.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Azman Ayob confirmed the accident.

Amirah's body was brought to the Tangkak Hospital for a post-mortem before being returned to her family.

Her remains were buried at the Kampung Jambi Muslim Cemetery yesterday.
