MALAYSIA - A burglar thought he could get away by hiding in a water tank in a bungalow in Kampung Kubang Parit, Kuala Terengganu, but he was caught by the police, reported Harian Metro.

During the 2.15pm incident on Thursday, the burglar, believed to be in his 30s, had broken into the bungalow by smashing the glass door with stones.

However, the sound alerted a neighbour, who contacted the owner, Wan Maziah Wan Besar, 44.

Wan Maziah, who was working at a clinic nearby, rushed home and contacted both the police and the village security committee.

"The burglar tried to escape through the back gate but it was locked," said Wan Maziah, adding that the man then attempted to flee through the roof.

When all attempts failed, the burglar took to hiding in the water tank but was later found and arrested.
