Cops to meet former councillor over pastor's abduction

The Star/ANN | Thursday, Apr 20, 2017

PETALING JAYA - Selangor police will record a statement from former Petaling Jaya councillor Peter Chong regarding abducted Pastor Raymond Koh.

"We don't know if he can help in the investigation, but we will record his statement in the near future. He has said before that he has information, so we have to check.

"The task force is still investigating the case, so whatever clues and leads come up, we will look into them. We have never stopped investigating," said Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat.

Chong reportedly claimed that he was abducted in Haadyai while there to meet a source for news on Koh.

In a statement yesterday, he said he would try to make a report at the Thai Embassy here on his alleged abduction in Haadyai recently.

If he is not successful in making the report, Chong said he would make the report in Haadyai as it was "important and necessary" to do so.

He also clarified that he tried to lodge a police report at the Pattaya police station but was told to make it at the Haadyai police station as he was held against his will in Haadyai.

"Nevertheless, officers at the Pattaya City police station were very helpful in assisting my return home. They helped contact the Malaysian Embassy as well as my family. I remain grateful to them.

"I will continue to give my full co-operation to PDRM and if required, to the Thai police too," he said.

Chong thanked the Malaysian police for their professionalism in handling the missing person's report made by his family.

"I would also like to extend my appreciation to the officer at the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok."

He confirmed that the information released by Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Amar Singh was accurate based on the statement he gave.
