Siti Irina: Survived five stab wounds.

MALACCA - A final year Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student fought off a brutal attack by an intruder at her rented apartment and survived five stab wounds, including one that punctured her lungs.

Housemates found Siti Irina Ridzwan, 19, bleeding profusely when they scrambled to her room on hearing the teen's screams at about 5.30am in Lendu yesterday.

Siti Irina, an ex-student of SMK Puteri in Seremban, was said to be fighting for her life when her four friends rushed her to the Alor Gajah Hospital.

She was later transferred to the Malacca Hospital. She was later reported to be in a stable condition.

Police have arrested two people, aged 18 and 20, and are on the hunt for a youth and his girlfriend, both in their 20s.

They fled in a car bearing registration number BGU6328, said state CID chief Asst Comm Raja Sharom Raja Abdullah.

He said the police had placed the pair high on the police wanted list.

He said the police also raided the male suspect's home and seized several items, including two machetes.
