Ipoh sinkhole worries house owners

The Star/ANN | Nurbaiti Hamdan, Ng Si Hooi, | Friday, Aug 29, 2014

House owners in Buntong Tiga Tambahan, Ipoh, are feeling jittery after a sinkhole measuring more than half a metre in diameter appeared in the hall of one of the houses, reported Malaysia Nanban.

The area, a former dumping site, was given to residents to build their houses in 1985.

Resident V. Selvaraju, 52, said he and his family no longer felt safe living in the area after his house started sinking.

Residents are appealing to the Perak state government to provide them with alternative land as they feared something worse could happen in future.
