Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysians must reconcile their differences for the sake of the country's future, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.

"The silent majority of moderate Malaysians must stand up to speak up for the voices of moderates to be loudly heard.

"We must continue to celebrate our diversity," the Prime Minister added and vowed that the Government would ensure the goals of its 1Malaysia programme were met.

"Every citizen has a place under the Malaysian sun," he said. "To ensure our national unity, we must uphold the Federal Constitution and steadfastly commit ourselves to the Rukun Negara."

He said unity was important to maintain the peace, prosperity and stability that have contributed to the nation's remarkable progress.

"In celebrating our Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day, let us come together as one nation, 1Malaysia," he said.

The Prime Minister's message was disseminated at the National Unity Forum here yesterday.

Najib also said he welcomed the initiative by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli) with the support of The Star to organise this timely forum as Malaysia marked its 57th year of independence.
