Soldier feared killed in Lahad Datu shooting

LAHAD DATU - A soldier is feared killed and two other civilians are believed to have been injured in a shooting incident at a convenience store here.

According to residents in the east coast town, it is believed that the 4.45am shooting was triggered after a soldier was not allowed into the 24-hour convenience store on Wednesday.

The suspect, believed to be a soldier, had accidentally shot his colleague while two others, believed to be workers at the store were injured.

Sabah CID chief Sr Asst Comm Omar Mammah confirmed the incident and said that investigations were under way.

The injured victims have been admitted to the Lahad Datu Hospital.
