Teacher wins gas stove instead of car in scratch-and-win scam

The Star/ANN | Saturday, Dec 21, 2013

KUANTAN - Berita Harian reported that a teacher in Kuantan lost RM3,000 (S$1,156) in a scratch-and-win scam after he was originally promised the prize of a new Toyota Camry.

Instead of a new car, he received a gas stove worth around RM100.

The teacher, who wanted to be known only as Affendi, 58, claimed that he was also threatened by several employees of the scratch-and-win syndicate.

Affendi, who was with his son then, said he had been reluctant to pay the RM3,000 "registration fee" but gave in when the employees threatened to hurt them and even stopped them from leaving the premises.
