Two Indonesians slashed, beaten to death in front of Penang shopping mall

A parang was recovered from the scene, believed to be the weapon used during the murder.

GEORGE TOWN - Two Indonesians were slashed and beaten to death by a group of men in front of a shopping mall in Bukit Jambul here.

The men, identified as Muhammad Junaidi, 26, and Aidin, 20, were sitting outside the complex when the group, believed to be also Indonesians, attacked them in 6.30pm incident Sunday.

Muhammad Junaidi, who was bashed up with a helmet and slashed near his ribs, died on the spot.

Aidin died on the way to the Penang Hospital. He was believed to have been bludgeoned with a hammer.

Police recovered a parang at the scene believed to be the weapon used in the attack.

Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mazlan Kesah said police were investigating the motive of the attack.

He added that the case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

SAC Mazlan urged witnesses to come forward and shed light on the incident.
