Flat tyre forces Malindo jet to abort take-off

The Star/ANN | Thursday, May 15, 2014

PETALING JAYA - A Malindo aircraft carrying 72 people was forced to abort its take-off at the Subang Airport yesterday morning after one of its tyres was found to be flat.

An airline official confirmed that Flight OD1232 bound for Kota Baru detected the problem while preparing for take-off. No injuries were reported.

"We obtained another aircraft and the flight was rescheduled to 11am and arrived safely at 12.05pm."

This follows an incident in March where a Malindo flight to Kuala Terengganu was forced to turn back to Subang after one of the plane's engines caught fire at 2,134m. No injuries were reported.

The airline, which commenced operations on March 22 last year, is a joint venture between Malaysian and Indonesian companies.
