Missing MH370: No wreckage found, sea mission continues

KUALA LUMPUR: Search and rescue teams from Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam have failed to find evidence of any wreckage, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) said in a statement tonight. The air mission has been halted for the night while the sea mission will continue

According to the statement by MAS:

"An international search and rescue mission was mobilised this morning.

"At this stage, our search and rescue teams from Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam have failed to find evidence of any wreckage.

"The sea mission will continue while the air mission will recommence at daylight," it said.

It added that the families of all passengers on board MH370 were being informed of the status of the aircraft.

The flight was carrying 239 - comprising 227 passengers (including two infants) and 12 crew members.

The passengers are of 14 different nationalities while all crew onboard were Malaysians.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members," MAS said.
