Renowned Chinese star Na Ying has called it quits as mentor of The Voice of China after three seasons, reported Kwong Wah Yit Poh.

She came to the decision after helping her protege Zhang Bichen win the third season of the reality television singing competition.

"I needed a perfect ending this year and gave a good account of myself. It's time I get a new successor," she was quoted by the daily.

On Tuesday, Zhang, 25, stood out during the final showdown with baritone Parhat from Urumqi, Xinjiang. It was the second time a contestant coached by Na Ying won.

Na Ying said the semi-finalists from her group were born in the 1990s, adding that she felt she was old enough to be their mother.

Na Ying added that she would release an album with her four top students from this season soon.
