The Star/ANN | Martin Carvalho, Allison Lai, | Monday, Apr 28, 2014

The Government has been urged to set up a centre for the Tamil film industry to expose Malaysian artistes to the latest technologies so that the quality of their productions will be on par with countries like India, Tamil Nesan reported.

Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, in his capacity as the Malaysian Government's special envoy (infrastructure) to India and South Asia, said the Education Ministry should take the lead.

Citing India as an example, he said that many Malaysian artistes had gone to India to learn the trade.

The setting up of the centre would give local artistes the opportunity to excel further, he said, after visiting the India-Malaysia Education & Property Fair which was held in Kuala Lumpur.
