TWO custom-made and specially designed running tops await readers who sign up for this year's ST Run at the Hub.

Both the race singlet and commemorative finisher's T-shirt are made by New Balance (NB), ST Run's official sportswear, and are specially designed to celebrate the Sept 28 run.

After all, this year's ST Run will go down in history as the first mass-running event to finish inside the new National Stadium.

Mr Eugene Yeo, New Balance's marketing and product manager for ASEAN, said: "New Balance is excited to have collaborated closely with The Straits Times to produce this exclusive set of running tops."

Both the race singlet and finisher's T-shirt feature the brand's core moisture management technology, Lightning Dry.

Lightning Dry tops are designed to lower the skin's temperature during a workout by managing moisture transfer. The technology uses hydrophobic yarns that absorb moisture and keep runners cool and dry, a particularly useful feature in Singapore's hot and humid climate.

American Jennifer Barringer, the 1,500m world champion in 2011, is one athlete who uses the race top.

The finisher's T-shirt is also emblazoned with an illustration of the iconic National Stadium dome, making it a collector's item.

The blue running singlet and white finisher's T-shirt are worth $39 and $49 respectively.

More than 10,000 have signed up for the ST Run at the Hub across three categories (5km fun run, 10km and 21km) so far. The event is organised as part of the Straits Times Appreciates Readers programme to reach out to the community.

Each participant will get a goodie pack worth more than $120, including the two New Balance tops, and entry to the Alive Museum at Suntec City Mall.
