SINGAPORE - Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) service personnel will now be able to access training apps and content offline and on mobile, with a single login.

Dubbed the LEARNet Portal 2.0, it is SAF's second iteration of its internet-based learning platform and will be implemented SAF-wide from Nov 2014 onwards.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Chairman of the SAF Learning Transformation Advisory Board, Mr Neo Kian Hong launched the LEARNet Portal 2.0 at the opening ceremony of the SAF Learning Symposium (SLS) 2014.

Speaking at the SAFTI Military Institute, the former Chief of Defence Force highlighted the importance of sustaining the learning culture in the SAF.

" No individual could be involved in all exercises and operations. But, collectively, there is an abundance of insights and experiences gained from people who had participated in them," Lieutenant-General (LG) (NS) Neo said.

"When such knowledge is made readily available and shared, new knowledge in turn will be created."

LEARNet Portal 2.0 will feature collaborative tools such as forums, blogs, an encyclopedia, and a knowledge repository.

LEARNet Portal 1.0 was launched in 2012 by Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen. Previously, LEARNet Portal 1.0 could only be accessed within SAF camps and required multiple logins.
