AsiaOne | Sunday, Jun 8, 2014

The sister of the youth who allegedly threw the bike wheel that hit Madam Mahani Abdullah, 67, has said that her brother's hands are now "stained with blood", after hearing that Madam Mahani has died.

Madam Mahani died in hospital on Friday night. She was hit on the head by the bicycle wheel on May 16 near an HDB block of flats in Eunos Crescent, Lianhe Wanbao reported.

Madam Mahani suffered a heart attack on Tuesday and slipped into a coma, she was diagnosed to be suffering from kidney failure and died on Friday.

She was buried yesterday afternoon.

The youth who allegedly threw the wheel, Abdul Hamid Rahmat, 16, has been charged with causing grievous hurt, and his bail was revoked on Friday, The Straits Times reported.

The youth's sister, upon hearing that Madam Mahani had died, had wanted to visit Madam Mahani's family, but is hesitant as she's afraid her presence may cause discomfort, according to Wanbao.

She said that her brother should face the law for what he had done. "His hands are stained with blood, he has to bear whatever consequences."

She said that her parents are greatly saddened by Madam Mahani's death, and her mother seems to be slipping back into depression.

She revealed that her parents are both ill, and that she has had to work to support the family since she was 12.
