Singapore

Spectacle of lights at Chinatown

The Straits Times | Wednesday, Aug 27, 2014

Chinatown was decked out in flower lanterns last night for the official opening and light-up ceremony of the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival.

Tourists and locals were treated to a dragon dance with a 28m-long dragon, which has entered the Singapore Book of Records as the longest one made of cloth flowers.

The dragon dance was part of a 90-minute song and dance show.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean switched on the street lightings, as fireworks burst over Chinatown, lighting up the area in hues of orange, pink and yellow.
