Singapore

Take part in triathlon on ice

My Paper | Samantha Boh | Friday, Aug 29, 2014

If next month looks a little dreary for you, then JCube might have the perfect solution.

That's when the mall will stage Singapore's first triathlon on ice, called the Ice Challenge, and all fun-seeking individuals are invited to take part.

The challenge will involve three events: a broomball competition, a record-breaking disco party and the final "Disco on Ice" tele-match, featuring games like musical chairs.

The broomball competition will take place over four days (Sept 19 to 21, and 26). Contestants will form 56 teams and battle over 28 games, where two sides of six players each compete to score as many goals as they can using paddles called "broomsticks".

Don't worry if you are a non-skater, as contestants will be provided non-slip shoes that allow them to walk on ice.

Contestants will then attempt to set Singapore's record for the largest disco party on ice on Sept 27, following which the winning teams will enter the final challenge.

The ultimate winning team that survive three elimination rounds will walk away with air tickets from Singapore to any Scoot destination of their choice, worth up to a total of $10,500.

Participants can sign up at The Rink's ticketing booth at $45 per person, or at an early bird or group rate of $40 per person if you sign up before Monday or in groups of 12.

Discounts are available for students and ActiveSG members.
