Woman hurt by falling tree branch

The injured woman being helped after a branch fell on her head while she was on her way to work.

A woman was injured after a 4m-long tree branch broke off and fell on her head yesterday morning.

Police said they received a call at about 9.45am requesting assistance in Bendemeer Road.

The woman, 32, was found injured and taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The systems engineer, who hails from China, was on her way to work when the incident occurred, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The tree was about six storeys tall, it added.

The woman fell to the ground moaning after she was hit by the falling branch. Witnesses said her face was covered in blood.

An eyewitness, who wanted to be known only as Kis, said he saw a few people trying to help her.

A car stopped and the driver covered her legs with what looked like a white cloth, he told My Paper.

Other passers-by, including a motorcyclist and security guards from a nearby building, also went to help.

But no one moved her, and the ambulance arrived a few minutes later and took her away, he said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
