Yakitori restaurant Satsuma Shochu at Gallery Hotel to close in October

SoShiok | Monday, Sep 8, 2014

SINGAPORE - Izakaya restaurant Satsuma Shochu Dining will be serving its last cup of sochu on Oct 31, due to Gallery Hotel's impending upgrading project.

The restaurant is known for its yakitori dishes where various skewered items are grilled over a charcoal flame. It was also one of the first few places in Singapore that served a variety of shochu, a type of Japanese alcohol, when it opened in November 2006.

The owner and staff of Satsuma said in a press statement that they will be taking a short break while looking for another location, preferably in the Mohammed Sultan area. In the interim period, the team will be at their sister restaurant, Shunjuu Izakaya at #01-15, 30 Robertson Quay.

"We are immensely grateful to our guests and partners for the support all these years. It has been our pleasure to serve you and to be able to provide a cosy corner for your chill-out sessions and significant celebrations alike," the team said in the statement.
