SEA Games: Games congress returns

The New Paper | Lim Say Heng | Friday, May 2, 2014

The South-east Asia Games Federation will hold a congress today to discuss the future of the biennial event.

The pow-wow is the first after 14 years, and follows various meetings at the Raffles City Convention Centre over the past two days.

Tan Eng Liang, a Singapore National Olympic Council vice-president and executive committee chairman of the 28th SEA Games - which the Republic will host next year - intends to propose a cap on the number of sports at each event.

He said: "The founding countries wanted to improve the standard of sports in the region.

"I hope we can make the SEA Games reasonable, with the right combination of events and sports, and helping to constrain the budget."
