MALAYSIA - A PAS MP has a plan to put Malaysia on the map - build the world's first Al-Quran theme park.

The move, said Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (PAS-Bachok), would lure more visitors and bring pahala (divine blessings) to the country.

"We already have Legoland, Sunway Lagoon and the Lost World of Tambun. It is time the world came to Malaysia to learn the Quran in the form of a theme park," he said when debating the Budget 2015 speech.

He also suggested that funds for the proposed RM30mil (S$11.69 million) project to construct the world's second largest printing centre in Putrajaya be used for the Al-Quran theme park.

In addition, he said the theme park should be divided into 114 parts to symbolise the 114 sura or chapters in the Quran.

He said he was confident that the PAS-led Kelantan government would be willing to offer land for the project.

In response to Datuk Wan Khairil Anuar Wan Ahmad (BN-Kuala Kangsar) on the cost of the proposed project, Ahmad Marzuk said: "The cost is no matter. What is important is the green light from the Government."

Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub (BN-Machang) then asked Ahmad Marzuk when PAS would table its Private Member's Bill on hudud.

"About the date, I think you are eager to support the Bill when it is tabled. When the time comes, we will let you know," Ahmad Marzuk answered tongue in cheek.

It was reported that PAS is expected to table a Private Member's Bill to pave the way for the implementation of PAS' hudud in Kelantan. The move has drawn criticism from various quarters.
