A MAN claimed trial on Thursday to four counts of abusing his Indonesian maid. Mat Nooh Sajari, 37, is said to have thrown a pot lid at Ms Sulastri, injuring her on the right upper arm at a Woodlands flat in the first week of February last year.

Around mid-February, he allegedly hurled a chair at her, causing her to suffer swollen and bloody toes. He is further accused of kicking her on the abdomen and slapping her as well as throwing a cup at her on Feb 20 that year.

Nooh was given a week to engage a lawyer. His case will be mentioned on May 22. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 18 months and/or a fine of up to $1,500 per charge.
