KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: A taxi driver was killed after he was beaten up and robbed by two passengers near a Tamil school in Batu Caves here on Tuesday night.

The taxi driver, identified as Liew Fauy Koong, 56, is believed to have picked up the passengers at another location, and stopped in the Batu Caves area at about 10.30pm as the duo wanted to get off there.

When he stopped, the two suspects started beating him up with a piece of wood. Liew fell outside his taxi.

A security guard at the school who witnessed the incident shouted for help, causing the suspects to panic and flee in Liew's taxi.

Passers-by rushed Liew to the Selayang Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
