A YOUTH who drove a car without the owner's consent and caused it to skid at the basement carpark of Suntec City was fined a total of $1,300 on Wednesday.

Car polisher Rodney Vincent, 17, was also banned from driving for three months.

He admitted to driving Mr Raymond Png's car without his consent and driving without due consideration at Suntec City basement carpark on last Dec 10.

Mr Png, 29, had wanted his car to be washed when he parked it at a car polishing outlet at lunch time that day.

Vincent then drove the car around the carpark.

While making a left turn, he crashed into one car and then another.

He panicked and stopped the car nearby.

Pleading for leniency, he said he had learnt his lesson and was to be enlisted into national service soon.
