KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - A Korean student who had just arrived here for his month-long semester break was found dead in his rented room at Lorong Chong Khoon Loong in Ukay Heights.
It is learnt the 17-year-old was a student from an international school in Ipoh and had just moved into the rented room on Friday evening.
The 36-year-old maid was also found dead in her room and is believed to have been strangled to death. Both victims were found yesterday morning.
Their housemate, also a Korean, who came back home at about 10am yesterday, discovered the bodies in two separate rooms.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Abd Jalil Hassan said the housemate had gone to the maid's room to ask her to make him a drink when he discovered the body.
He said the man rushed to the student's room where he discovered the second body and alerted the police.
It is believed the student died after he was hit on the head with a sharp object while the maid was strangled using a rope.
"A stick was found in the student's room and is believed to have been used by the assailant to attack him," he said when contacted yesterday.
ACP Abd Jalil also said the maid might have known the assailant as there were no signs of a break-in and the house was not ransacked.
Police believe the maid might have opened the door for the assailant.
"We are still investigating the motive of the incident as their belongings were intact," he said.
Both the bodies were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
