HANDCUFFED and dressed in the remand prison's orange overalls, lawyer M. Ravi demanded from the dock of a district court on Monday morning to be allowed to argue his case seated next to co-counsel Violet Netto.

He also challenged the jurisdiction of the district court over two charges of disturbing a religious prayer session at a mosque in Chinatown last month and for harassment.

The 39-year-old said that he had filed a criminal motion in the Supreme Court and the matter should be dealt there and not in the lower court.
