MARANG, MALAYSIA - JUST 10 days after the attempted kidnapping of two children from a Kuala Terengganu school, another similar incident has taken place in a school in Marang, Kosmo! reported.
A Year Five student of the school was almost abducted by three men in their 30s in the incident which happened while the 11-year-old girl, identified as Ainina, was on the way home from school on Sunday evening.
The girl told the newspaper that she had walked home because her father was late picking her up.
When she passed by a rubbish bin outside the school, a white van with three men inside approached her.
"The driver opened the van door and said he wanted to send me home," said Ainina.
Terrified because she remembered her parents warning her not to follow strangers, Ainina ran away.
When she turned back to look, she saw the van driving back towards the school.
"While running, I did not realise I was carrying a heavy bag full of textbooks on my back. I just wanted to run home to safety," she said.
Her mother said Ainina had to be coaxed by her father to return to school as she was traumatised by the incident.
The school lodged a police report on the incident and subsequently issued a letter to parents to caution them of their children's safety.
Parents also took extra precaution to pick up their children from school, the daily said, adding that the children were clearly jittery since the incident because they looked scared when reporters stopped their vehicles to interview them.
