Six killed in 2am accidents

Both accidents occurred at about the same time in the Klang Valley in M'sia yesterday. Firemen had to extricate two of the bodies before they were able to be taken to a hospital for a post mortem. -NST

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Six people were killed in two accidents which occurred about the same time in the Klang Valley early yesterday.

The 2am incidents saw four killed along the Damansara-Puchong Expressway near Kelana Jaya, Selangor, and another two in Jalan Loke Yew, here.

In the Kelana Jaya incident, a luxury car driven by a 21-year-old man ploughed into three men who were laying underground telephone cables near Wisma Sawit.

The vehicle dragged all three men, who were related, for 50m before it flipped over.

The driver of the car, identified as Jeffrey Lee Siew Wai, and the three men were killed instantly.

The dead workers were Mukhtar Abdullah, 54, his son Angger, 19, and son-in-law Mohd Yusri Nordin, 31. Mukhtar's other son, Ganang Setiawan, 25, was also working with them but avoided being hit by Lee's car.

Lee, a manager at a private company in Subang Jaya, was heading towards his house in Damansara Utama from Bandar Sunway when he is believed to have lost control of the car.

All the bodies were taken to the University Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem.

In the second accident in Jalan Loke Yew, two men died and another was seriously injured when their car crashed into a tree after hitting a barrier.

The driver, Muhammad Zarul Shareen, 24, from Sabah, and Muhammad Mahayudin Ibrahim, 43, from Kepong, died on the spot.

The third victim, who has yet to be identified, was warded at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital in Cheras.

The trio were heading towards Cheras from the city when the accident occurred.

Firemen had to extricate the bodies of Muhammad Zarul and Muhammad Mahayudin from the wreck before they were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem.
