PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA: Two men were burnt alive and another injured when their car went out of control, crashed into a divider and burst into flames.

The driver of the BMW 328i, identified as businessman Mohd Huzaini Mohd Anan, 30, and his friend Mohd Ridhuan Laily, 21, who was in the rear seat, were trapped in the car and died in the fire.

Mohd Ridhuan's brother, Mohd Firdaus, 25, who was in the front passenger seat, suffered head injuries but managed to escape from the vehicle, in the 3.30am incident along Jalan Damansara here yesterday.

The three men, all from Seremban, were heading towards Damansara Utama when the driver lost control of the car and hit a divider near Phileo Damansara 1.

Petaling Jaya police chief Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said initial investigations revealed that fuel had leaked from the petrol tank and the vehicle caught fire upon impact.

"According to witnesses, the car was travelling from Bangsar and skidded, crashing into the divider just after Eastin Hotel," he said, adding that police had ruled out foul play.

"We will interview Mohd Firdaus to gather more information on the incident when he recovers.

"He has been warded at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre," said ACP Arjunaidi.

Fire and Rescue personnel from the Section 7 station extricated the bodies about half an hour after they had put out the fire.
